At the start of the war there were estimates of the Iraqi army numbering over 100,000, with thousands more Special Republican Guards and what have you. Americans now have 7000 POWs, they can't have killed more than 10,000 in conflict, as they've not met enough resistance to account for that amount. So where are the rest? A huge number of military personnel suddenly disappearing?

So when the party is over, surely the biggest kick in America's teeth would be for Saddam to go out with a bang. Personally, I can see Saddam waiting until the Coalition is comfortable with its situation in Baghdad, and THEN launching an attack.

Yes, Saddam may want to take the moral high ground over Bush on this war, but when he is facing being caught and executed, he may resort to a serious attack. Iraq's information minister has done a runner and some of the journalists' minders have left Baghdad. when the PR war is over, the real one may start...

It is possible that Sadam is waiting until the US and UK forces are a little settled. Then he may unleash them. Who cares about the WMD anyway, isn't freeing an oppressed people good enough!?!?

To be honest, the US and UK have been made out to look like heroes today, so I don't think the "minor" issue of whether there were weapons of mass destruction (the most overused phrase of recent time)or not would bother them that much.

Lets just suppose for a moment all these weapons do exist. Probably the biggest mistake they could make would be to use them. As things stood, in the eyes of the arab world this was an unjust war. While theres no evidence of wrong doing, its brave Saddam standing against western aggression. I suppose if the Iraqi regime ever had a war plan, it was to hang on as long as possible, even resorting to the guerilla warfare because the longer it goes on, the more support swings in their favour especially if they make it a messy war. When you add in that if WMD are well hidden and thus aren't found then it increases the pressure even further on the US/UK to justify the war and again strengthens the Iraqi regime's position politically in the middle east.

Just think what happens if they do use eg chemical weapons, they'd be targeting an army that they must realise is prepared for it and so likely be relatively ineffective. And for that they lose international and regional support, and probably end up giving americans a mandate to be even more aggressive.

Surely if Saddam has all these chemical and biological weapons, he would want to use them now? If he has saving them for a rainy day, it is metaphorically peeing it down now! This is why I am reluctant to believe that we have 'won', I am waiting for Saddam to come back with all the weapons that he is supposed to have. It all seems to have been too easy to me...

If not and all the Iraqi soldiers have given up, then that would be brilliant...

I'd assume there are still army units around towns and cities that the US forces haven't gone to yet. And although ground forces haven't met vast amounts of resistance, the aerial attacks on Iraqi troops supposedly left many units ineffective, so possibly more reduction in numbers due to the air attacks. But I'd also say many would no longer see a reason to fight. The government apparently has no effective control anymore.
