Just because they were on form on Tuesday, doesn't mean they will be next time.
In fact, in the first ten minutes it looked like they weren't on top of their game, but once Figo scored it fired them up.
If Utd get an early goal, I wouldn't be surprised if Real reacted badly.
It won't be easy for Utd to go through, but it's certainly not impossible, and still it's always good to be the most successful English team in Europe, even if it ends prematurely.
Even with players like Figo and Zidane in their side, I would've never expected even Real Madrid to have played so confidentally, and literally taken-the-mick out of every-last-one of our players!
Astonishing...
But with the majority of Old Trafford behind us, I'm confident we'll do better in the Home leg - even if we still go out.
It's not impossible - we only need 2 goals within the 90-minute period, to send the game tied on aggregate, into Extra Time, with an Away-goal advantage (hopefully!).
If Fergie plays with TWO strikers this time, to really show-up that Real Madrid backline; and if Veron is also deemed fit to play (unlike Silvestre), then I believe we can do it, and progress on to the Semi's!
But if we muck-up against Newcastle tommorow, and do badly against Arsénal on Wednesday, our confidence could be blown...! :S
Fergie'd better buy a new defender AND Djibril Cissé in the Summer!!
We've looked weak in the attack all-season, and Wes Brown just looked scared out there, on Wednesday night!
He was very lucky not to have conceeded that blatant Penalty, and Barthez had a lucky escape - or two - also. Figo's goal may've been unstoppable, and so, almost, was Raul's; but I think Barthez did well under the pressure, after his mistakes.
There's a reason they only came second in their group, and the reason is that they played well below par on a number of occasions. If they don't perform at Old Trafford, they can expect to have problems.
United have to perform well, certainly. Equally though, Real can't afford not to either. If we can beat Juventus 3-0 in Turin, we can beat Real Madrid 2-0 at OT.
All it takes is that they aren't on song.
(much like Arsenal in most of their European performances)
I mean after Cygan's formidable defensive displays, it must have caused Zidane and Raul to have nightmare's.
*Shiver*
How Scared they must be....
and wookie, we all know that the Madrid talk is all just nonsense talk just like Milan saying they wouldnt want Beckham... its funny how Man Utd and Man Utd players always tend to be mentioned in these mind games, that tells me that Man Utd are feared by all but the most naive.
Sorry to say this but Arsenal are not in the same catergory... im sure the whole of Europe was quaking at the fear of the gunners back 4 and almost laughable inability to win in europe, yup... very scary.
> I seriously doubt theres any truth in that...
You can doubt all you like, but they said it on at least two different occasions - well before the last group stage ended, and before they knew who they'd be playing, so it had nothing at all to do with psyching out ManYoo.
I doubt it very much.
Mind games are what all managers do, some better than others.
The whole fergie calling fix was no doubt another one of these just to add a bit more to the game.
