I always try and explain how I feel in lyrics, it is easier for me. I aren't sure quite what these lyrics are but I thought you might want to read them and see if you can relate to them.

Love, the instrument of my eternal torture
Fear, a back door through which to escape
Words that mean nothing are hurtful to no one
The anger and shame push me further adrift

Nobody can know just quite how I feel
Tossed on life’s waves and unsure what’s real
Our hearts love is what guides us but hatred prevails
Just like a wedding with ashes for veils

Religion is but words to keep us from the truth
It goes ignored as murder and deceit lead us forth
Whilst those who believe can live with the comfort
Of knowing they will move on to a higher plain
Eventuality of existence continued
Knowing this life is all that I have
I may not be famous or live by the rules
But I am enlightened and I will die free

Nobody can know just quite how I feel
Tossed on life’s waves and unsure what’s real
Our hearts love is what guides us but hatred prevails
Just like a wedding with ashes for veils

I dig in my heart, deeper and deeper
Searching for something in which to believe
The storm came and went and I need to recover
Something within to hold up to the light
The fires of passion are burning inside
But the blanket of depression extinguishes the flames
The voices of reason in the back of my head
Yelling at me to render my truth

Nobody can know just quite how I feel
Tossed on life’s waves and unsure what’s real
Our hearts love is what guides us but hatred prevails
Just like a wedding with ashes for veils

My thoughts are in riddles and my words still unclear
My mind clogged with notions I cannot unravel
Living without direction and a constant escape plan
Keeping my eyes shut to the hate people spread
My innards are knotted and my feelings shattered
A blade on my wrists seems an impure demise
I crawl up in my shell for my own hibernation
Hoping when I awake the world is reborn

The word "lyric" means "word" - People associate lyrics with songs but these are just words I wrote for no real purpose. I think best perhaps as a poem though, if I take the chorus out as that is very song like.

Therefore a poem......

I think.

In my head (probably very wrong) lyrics (normaly) are poems in song form.

I imagine I broke a thousand techinical rules there.

It doesn't have a tune as such. It is just a bunch of meaningful words with a chorus that rhymes. The chorus could be taken out and it could be just a poem if it is easier.

I can't write music which sort of sucks.

Lyrics to me, if I have no music to them, mean very little unless I know the song inside out.

A poem is usualy safer. Although this could be a poem, if you simply changed the name. I think. Maybe....

Anyhoo.
