my ISP is ntl with one of those £15 a month things. it has a timeout after 2 hours where it cuts me off. this is really annoying for downloads and im sure ive seen something about being able to stop it. please could you tell me how. help is much appreciated.

SS means secret_squirrel and that is the name of the email address that my company run. We help people with web and computer difficulties by email.
It does not matter if it's built in they cut off connection every 2 hours anyway.
thanks for the info. unfortunately yes i do use a 56k built-in modem. why are you called ss and so is that mail address?
Yes you can download a program which stops this cut-off but there is a problem...these programs serve no purpose because after the two hours, the ISP stops allowing data in and out of their servers hence if you maintain a connection download still won't work. Just set up your internet connection so that it redials instantly within a couple of seconds and the download won't be affected unless you dial up using a 56k modem.
