Well its the name of a hip hop group that did one or two quality tracks for Jet Set Radio, and mabye for JSRF, I can't remember.
There reason I say is that I recently got a lend of a Minidisk with one of their albums on it, Power In Numbers.
And I really like it. The chilled old skool hip hop seams really fresh wehn you've spent the last few weeks listening to 50 cents new album. Remove all the guns and violence from commercial hip hop and you get Jurassic 5. I think they're pretty cool.
Anyone else know what i'm talking about, or even heard of them?

On (another) similar note - The Latch Brothers did a few tracks for JSRF one of the members of which is one 'Mike D' as in The Beastie Boys - another brilliant Hip Hop act (might have a new album by next year)....

Strangely, I did the same thing. Listened to the 50 cent album for a while then someone lent me a J5 mindisc. It's a strange contrast.
Anyway, the first time you hear some of the early things you think it's pretty weak what with some songs being just a drum loop and a hook but then you realise it's stripped down, raw Hip Hop. I love the last song on Quality Control - "so hott" and the newest single 'What Golden' is HEAT.
On a similar note I heard a song by DJ Flavour (I think that was his name) on P-Rock and the MC's sounded like those from J5 but I wasn't too sure considering that they're DJ's are NuMark and Cut Chemist; maybe the song just featured them....

That just ain't possible for me. My PC is so old they want to take it away and put it in a museum.
I'll look out for those albums next time im in HMV, might pick them up if there cheap.

They did a show in Belfast a few weeks ago too. I didn't go, but I which I did because now I know what I missed!
I'm listenig to them right now in fact-High Fidelity. I think Freedom and Night at the races are pretty sweet too.
For similar tunes, see also: The Roots, De La Soul, Mark B & Blade (not that similar, but still kinda cool)
