Seems there are very few times that England can play an international game without some of the fans causing trouble.
Sure it is a small number but this small number cuase trouble inside and outside the ground.

Take last nights win, good game and then a few spoil it by going on the pitch and hitting Alpay, then outside the police have to take control off a select bunch who just seem to be too stupid to understand their own actions.

Now ok, most will know I am scottish so I have no real concern over the English national team other than I like to watch good football being played no matter who the teams are. But what I do dislike is any teams fans getting violent, you know the hooligans and thugs who go for the after match fights...

Now the main point is what should be done?
Maybe there is a way to catch those responsible and make sure that they go nowhere near the match (doubt the police could take the time and effort to ensure this though)

Or if the fans continue like this make them play all their games behind closed doors which would ruin it for the majority of respectable fans.

Or if it does continue could we see them losing points or being thrown out of major compititions, a bit far fetched but I am sure you will agree that trouble fans - no matter which country they are there for are a problem.

Before you reply think of it from the other side and not as an Elgish fan (as most probably are). How would you feel if it was another countries fans behaving like this?

I know its not just the English fans who are like this but you have to admit it seems to be a problem at most Enland games these days..

Personally - and this isn't aimed at anyone here, I mean it in general terms - I object to people calling these morons "fans". They're not, because a real "fan" has no interest in violence.

I remember a few years ago when I went with my cousin and a friend to see Arsenal play Barcelona at Wembley in the Champion's League. Myself and my cousin were wearing our Arsenal tops, and while we were standing around outside the ground, a couple of Barca fans came up and asked us in broken English if we'd have our photo taken with them. We were only too happy to oblige, and our friend took a photo of us with them, arms around each other's shoulders and smiling for the camera.

After the photo was done, we exchanged pleasantries, shook hands and went our separate ways into the stadium. THAT to me is how real football "fans" behave.

Trouble is if our police force did that then i'm sure there'd be some lawyer somewhere ready to represent Bazza, 'Hard Nut' Dave, 'Killer' Stu and the rest of their brainless mates to sue the police for causing them injury and i'm sure there'd be something about their human rights in there as well. And with a stupid 'justice' system like we have in England they'd probably win a big fat wad of compensation.

They police it better? What like in Turkey?

" ... fans of the Kayseri and Sivas clubs fought with pistols, knives and broken bottles for days after the end of a match between the two sides. Before troops restored order, cars were burned out, 600 spectators injured and 42 of them killed, 25 by stab wounds."

Yeah, they do a great job over there, don't they.

They seem to police it better abroad I think.

If trouble breaks out then the tear gas, riot police and rubber bullets are used to control the trouble crowds.
Over here they don't seem to use enough force which is probably why so many get away with it.

Of course the english have a record for football related violence. We've been recording every incident since the 14th century. The rest of europe struggles to find a single official document on the subject before the 1980s.

Did they have it before then? Yes, but they just brushed it under the carpet.

Did anyone see that Donal MacIntyre programme about football hooligans on TV some time back where he infiltrated the 'Chelsea Headhunters'? That was bloody scary.

The problem is the hooligan culture that has existed in England for many years. Football brings out the worst of the "tribal" attitudes in hooligans as they treat it as some kind of "war" with rival fans. There are hooligans from many different countries who are equally violent, yet it's the English ones that seem to be the most active all the time whenever or wherever England play. They're brainless idiots who behave like mindless animals and should be caged like them as well, and seeing the footage of the latest trouble made me very angry. Angry, but also very sad at the same time; why do people think it's acceptable to behave in this way? I'll never understand the mentality of a brainless hooligan.

Personally, when I look around at the society we live in here at the moment with disrespectful attitudes, swearing, gang/yob culture, drinking and violence, I can only see the problem of football related violence getting much worse in the future, and the return leg in Turkey will be pretty bad.

I think it's disgraceful how the minority of fans react during a game. What about all the little kids that go. Aren't they bothered that the children will get scared?
