According to the BBC sport web site.

Apparently in the tunnel after the Turkey game there were a few scuffles between players and some threats were exchanged.

Gareth Southgate said it was all a bit “hectic” and, “'Wait until you come to Turkey was the shout, with fingers being passed across throats. And that was just the kit man!"

Alpay is also alleged to have been involved in an incident involving some of the English fans after the final whistle. So now the F.A are considering banning English fans travelling to Turkey for the return match. It is all to be decided depending on the severity of the “assault” on Alpay. Now, I believe that if any player is assaulted that the fan base responsible should be punished, but does anyone else notice how other groups seem to go unpunished?

There is a perfect example of this from this weekends games. During the Rep of Ireland match a knife and a bottle were thrown from the crowd at the Irish players, yet I have heard nothing about the F.A considering action against the Georgia fans.

Has anyone else heard if any action is to be taken?

Does anyone else think that crowd problems are dealt with more quietly if English fans aren’t involved?

In an ideal world yes, but there now exists a scary hatred between some Turkish and English hooligan "fans". I expect major trouble in Istanbul that's for sure.

The Turks won't retreat.

Have you seen what they do to each other when it's Galatasaray -vs- Fenerbahce?

If English fans will be attacked in Istanbul, give all the tickets to Milwall fans. They'll fight back and make the Turks retreat. A nice ol' battle. WHACK!

English people are going to get slaughtered when they travel to 'Hell' (Galatasaray's stadium in Istanbul).

Really.

Hum, I s'pose you cannot but expect there to be a little tension between Turkey people and English. Like the whole England/Germany thing.. I have a few friends who can't stand the Germans because of the war. Im like, "Yes, everyones entitled to their own opinions but they didn't even do anything to you."

Ah well.

You can't expect all the hooligans in football to just vanish overnight.

But over time, hopefully it will be stamped out.

Beckham also got annoyed that some of the Turkish players questioned his sexuality.

Which I found hilarious. :-D

Wasn't that the Leeds UEFA cup match a few years ago you're talking about?

It's for our own safety. I remember when Galatasaray played a English club (can't remember who it was) and there were 5 English fans stabbed.

The turks hate us so much.
