You must be joking. There is no comparison between the two.

Rooney has really impressed me, and now I think we might have a player that will become someone unlike no other. Based on that performance, he will be better than Pele in years to come.

Also, well done Vassell!!!

That's goal number 4.

as the critic who wrote the original post. I have to admit that Rooney was easily england's man off the match. I have seen 3 or four longish performances from Rooney before and thought he was good, but not amazing. Last night he was amazing still, he shouldn't have been starting but i'm glad he is. I thought Beckham was utter tripe last night and that was probably his worst performance i can remember for england. Whilst I was proved wrong there, i have to say Vassell who i have put up a lot of posts about being so good internationally has continued to prove this strange pattern of being pretty average for villa and excelling for englang. He has now levelled heskey's goal total in a third of the games and had a higher % of sub appearances!

Damn Rooney dribbling past players and setting up other players. Why does he insist on having a good first touch and not fallling over under the slightest of provocation?

Heskey is history.

England rocked.

Rooney is good- but forward-wise there is Sheringham, Jeffers, Beattie, Vassell, Dublin, Zamora and many others. I think Sven knows little about attack due to the fact he played his entire career as a fullback.

He played alright, we don't have many adequate alternatives and he will get better.

Messers Motson and Brooking went a bit overboard in their commentry with comments about him tonight.

The country's definatly excited about a new prospect for England, let's hope he gradually grows and delivers.

I think he proved that he is more than worthy of his start.

But then again, Vassell keeps knocking them in from the subs bench.

We have the midfield to provide quality strikers woth chances, we don't need a Heskey type player in the team.
