Its amazing how some games seem to make the transition from generation to generation seemlessly, such as Mario - brilliant on the Gameboy, NES, SNES and N64. However with this transition some great games get lost, so Im asking you what games of old you'ld like to see updated for the next gen consoles.
Personally I'ld like to see some of the Classic Amiga games given an update, like Cannon Fodder...I dont know about your experience, but that game was truely addictive!
So what are your favourite old games, and how should they be remade!

You can say what you like, but Im still waiting for the next "Cool spot" game, comeon 7-up blatant product placement thats cool on the PS2 and Dreamcast! You know they want too, the BeachBoys can do the Soundtrack.

That's what I'm saying though, some games were never meant to be updated, if Frogger had a gun and a mean look on his face then he wouldn't be Frogger, would he?

The idea is to either leave the games as they are and present them in their arcade clothes or get a game idea that can be worked on and made BETTER by adding new twists, graphical effects and other things. Pong and Frogger never quite made this happen, and probably gave updated games a bad name in the process.

They have slightly updated it, but with vehicles and stuff. A little crap some of the updates are.

I think Mekas Ideas cool, update Frogger for the 21st century...make him a drug dealer with a bad attitude like in GTA. Just think of the possible punchlines

This is my side of the pond, you dirty mudder Frogger!

You get the idea!

How to update Frogger for todays gamers:

1> Give Frogger a gun.
2> Allow frogger to shoot at cars, causing them to crash.
3> The traffic will grind to a halt, so walk across before emergency services arrive.
4> Allow Frogger to get in and drive cars, just like GTA.....

Some games are good and will always remain good for their gameplay, whether in 2D, 3D or whatever. It is a good idea to bring games back from history, sometimes. If the game idea is good enough to do again and if that game has been on an 8-bit machine then it gives a new audience a chance to play the game.

This works only for some games, Pong and Frogger have recently been updated, but the problem was that they were so basic in the first place that there wasn't much that could be done to them, bar the graphics. They were fun, admittedly, but only for a short while, in the same way that the originals were fun. I mean, how many times can you watch a frog cross the road? It does seem a little bit limiting.

Perhaps games publishers could keep creating compilations, but up the stakes and include 20 or even 30 games on a disc. Mame (the arcade emulator) supports thousands of games, from Pacman to Metal Slug, so it must be fairly easy to replicate this for a console. With a generic engine at their disposal, games firms could get hold of the licience and publish a whole stack of good quality older games on a single, cheap, CD. Not just the old 70's/80's classics, but later 80's and even some 90's games as well.

It really depends on what updating is being done.

Sometimes a concept is good enough to be revived, sometimes the characters will sell.

The thing is, I think the GBA Mario will not be Super Mario Bros 2, but it will use the same characters, and concepts (picking stuff up, and throwing it mostly?).

I haven't read anywhere that they'll be porting the game as it is. That would be daft.

Looks like the 4 player mode should be good enough to sell the game anyway!

No, No, No! We need to go farward, If your walking across a bridge to a beautiful woman you don't keep retaking the step intil you foot looks good in a sad attempt to impress her! You go: Step Step Step...Run! We don't want to miss out any steps but we don't want to keep taking old ones!

We need to go on, Remembering classic games is one thing but trying to recreate them only to realise that you have in a way 'besmirched' them is upsetting! Mario and Tetris etc are classics but having millions of the same version like SNES Mario and GBA Mario isn't a good Idea!

We want originality, we don't want 10 year old games with 'slightly better graphics'! We want new games with new adventures and the BEST graphics..not forgetting gameplay.....lol!

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Impressive control panel
I have to say that I'm impressed with the features available having logged on... Loads of info - excellent.
