Personally I'ld like to see some of the Classic Amiga games given an update, like Cannon Fodder...I dont know about your experience, but that game was truely addictive!
So what are your favourite old games, and how should they be remade!
The idea is to either leave the games as they are and present them in their arcade clothes or get a game idea that can be worked on and made BETTER by adding new twists, graphical effects and other things. Pong and Frogger never quite made this happen, and probably gave updated games a bad name in the process.
1> Give Frogger a gun.
2> Allow frogger to shoot at cars, causing them to crash.
3> The traffic will grind to a halt, so walk across before emergency services arrive.
4> Allow Frogger to get in and drive cars, just like GTA.....

This works only for some games, Pong and Frogger have recently been updated, but the problem was that they were so basic in the first place that there wasn't much that could be done to them, bar the graphics. They were fun, admittedly, but only for a short while, in the same way that the originals were fun. I mean, how many times can you watch a frog cross the road? It does seem a little bit limiting.
Perhaps games publishers could keep creating compilations, but up the stakes and include 20 or even 30 games on a disc. Mame (the arcade emulator) supports thousands of games, from Pacman to Metal Slug, so it must be fairly easy to replicate this for a console. With a generic engine at their disposal, games firms could get hold of the licience and publish a whole stack of good quality older games on a single, cheap, CD. Not just the old 70's/80's classics, but later 80's and even some 90's games as well.
Sometimes a concept is good enough to be revived, sometimes the characters will sell.
The thing is, I think the GBA Mario will not be Super Mario Bros 2, but it will use the same characters, and concepts (picking stuff up, and throwing it mostly?).
I haven't read anywhere that they'll be porting the game as it is. That would be daft.
Looks like the 4 player mode should be good enough to sell the game anyway!

We need to go on, Remembering classic games is one thing but trying to recreate them only to realise that you have in a way 'besmirched' them is upsetting! Mario and Tetris etc are classics but having millions of the same version like SNES Mario and GBA Mario isn't a good Idea!
We want originality, we don't want 10 year old games with 'slightly better graphics'! We want new games with new adventures and the BEST graphics..not forgetting gameplay.....lol!
