I can't help but wonder what the future holds in as little as the next couple of years. No doubt with this idea, other companies will try to improve and expand the idea of online RPG's.
Just imagine the kind of things we could see in the near future in this kind of genre. Maybe its only a matter of time before a console comes out that can handle a whole RPG world with hundreds or thousands of players all playing and interacting at once !
A world so detailed that towns have buildings such as bars where players can go to chat to other players, making this the next step up from a chat room like the ones we use now on our internet.
Think back to the time of Street Fighter 2 and look at the beat em ups we play now ! It doesn't take long for big steps to be made in the games world.
Its exciting to think of the games we could be playing in say 5 years time ! Imagine the topics coming up on this board by then ;-))
I think the DC will stay for another 2 or 3 years - I think many people have taken advantage of the superb DVD + DC deal for £299.99 - I have!! (well i sold the DC and kept the DVD since I had the DC from day one...)
Just got Le Mans 24 - gonna play it now!
Also I have got Ready 2 Rumble 2
Tony Hawk's 2 (i won it but got it again anyway!) all today!
Dan
I'd love to see Opposing Force come out too - love the boot camp part of it ;-))
Theres a great Dreamcast line up over the next few months Dan :-) Daytona USA is looking to be an amazing game too !
I think you're right - what will happen? Sonic Team are the greatest developers in the world - no question - Yuji Naka is the greatest games designer in the universe and yet SEga of Europe would rather spend money in 'Beach Football contests' than advertise.
PSO will be a classic. It'll be different every time you play - the possibilities are endless, and yet this is just year 2 of Dreamcast.
Dreamcasts are being given away for free and yet no one is buying them (yes they are - only the silly people buy PSone)!!
I don't think PSO is mainstream enough to capture the masses of PS owners and place them on the good ship Dreamcast. We need a miracle for Dreamcast to become the world's best selling console - to fight it out against the brothers Playstation - I can feel a presence and a buzzing around my little white box (no I don't have bees) - as the USA add goes 'It's thinking' and its thinking of one of the best games ever made.
Two words my friends - two words.
Half Life.
