Listening to Radio 4 this morning and there was a report on the ITC upholding a complaint from the Anglican Church concerning a poster campaign by The Church Of Scientology.

The Anglican Church complained that Scientology was "a cult designed to take advantage of people in desperate times in their lives, offering them salvation and eternal reward with no real basis in fact"

No, really; don't. I posted on a christian web-board for a while but I had to stop as it was doing no favours for my blood pressure...

The way I look at it is this:

Do I actually NEED to understand how it all works?

The answer: Nope.

I can't imagine the univberse been created from nothing, I have to ask myself what was there before the beginning.

But equally I can image that the universe had no beginning, that it has always existed because that would time infinite, and if time is infinate then how did we get to this finite point in time.

Like you say, I don't think we will ever be able to comprehend it. But then again I may be arrogant to think that there will never be a being who can comprehand these things that I can't.

I find it ironic that many religions are based on texts written by humans. I can see the flaw it this, why can't the religious? Personally a "God" would be an uncomprehensible image and concept to us, the chances that he "made us in his own image" (by patiently waiting for evolution?) is very far fetched and shows us how we've humanised God. And Maybe a God doesn't want everone claiming to know their personality when human beings in comparison are just dumb monkeys. You know people saying He is this and will forgive you for that. How do you know this?

I take nothing for granted, the universe is still a mystery and even if we were able to unravel it's secrets we probably couldn't comprehend them. Let's say we could prove that the universe came from nothingness. I can't conceptualise that notion, can anyone?

Anyway, I find it ludicrous that any religion can criticise another, when they are all clearly flawed. If there is a God, I doubt that it wants human religions mucking up the planet.

But each to their own, each to their own.
