The "Freeola Customer Forum" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
Why?
I know that some people regarded as good posters are leaving for reasons beyond their own control, or for decisions they have had to make that make the forum an unfortunate casualty by their leaving. I wish those people luck in these changing times. I also know that the reasons are far more complex than to ever be pinned down. We've blamed newbies, we've blamed Newbies, we've blamed spamming, we've resorted to the fact that times change.
Here is another reason. People have talked about a decline in the forums posts, and the quality of their posts, but I've also noticed a decline in replies. Maybe people don't feel all these posts are good enough to warrant a reply. Maybe people are being lathargic, but if people are neglecting to reply and encourage new posters in the forum, they are taking part in the demise of this forum.
Instead there is a distinct lack of replies. No one seems to want to comment any more. People are leaving like rats abandoning a sinking ship.
Maybe they're right, maybe the forum is doomed,
but if they were really that bothered perhaps they'd make more of a concerted effort to save or salvage something.
People have friends here.
People find solace and therapy here.
Yes, it is only a forum, but I'm sure that for some people this is an important place.
Isn't that worth making an effort for?
End of ramble

Masters? Rather you than me mate :-)
Without wanting to sound big headed, I was sent an emailing regarding the possibilty of doing a Phd, without doing a Masters first, which I thought weird - especially as there's a chance I may only get a 2:2 - but I didn't want to do it anyway.
I'm fed up with staying in a classroom and being poor. I want to get a job and actually have some money and stuff.

Well, you are rather outspoken for someone who has only made one post, apparently this one, aren't you?
Anyone who has bothered to read some of my previous posts will know that I have often acknowledged the fact that I am relatively new here. What you may not realise is that this is not my first screen name, and even though I am relatively new I have been listening to those people who are not so new.
Are you seriously telling me that because I have "only been posting for 29 days" that my views and opinions are any less valid than someone who has been posting for many years?
I didn't blame the newbies. I recognise that there is some what of a heirachy involved here. First you get along, then you go along. However I also am confident enough to believe that I can back up any argument I make, and also to recognise if I have beeen poved incorrect. I never said to blame newbies, simply that they had been blamed in the past.
Your post implies that my comments would somehow be more valid if I had been posting here for many years, rather than a single month. Surely you cannot think that that is true. Or maybe you meant to say that you thought someone who has been here longer would have a different view?

I'm in till the beginning of July, damnit.
What's more, I may well be going back for a Masters next year, too.
I am going to be exceedingly poor by the time I'm finished with education...
> I hardly ever post outside of term time, and term ended last week.
You've broken up for Easter already?! You lucky sod! I've got another two weeks left after this one!
Still, My summer holiday will begin at 2pm on the 28th May though, as thats the end of my last exam. Ever.
Tennis too butch for you?
> Porn?
Nah, I need to save my wrists for Badminton.
So, for the next four and a half weeks I'll be around maybe for an hour or so a day, tops.
