Over the past 10 years more than 12 consoles have been released that have had better specifications than there predecessors, as the market grows the games companies of today try harder and harder to created original ideas that will capture the heart of gamers around the world.
Nintendo had there most successful year last year, they much owe this to 151-250 little creatures that have keeped the company alive. These if you dont know are known as Pokemon.
With only 15 months to come before we will see every Next Generation Console available in the shops we should look at what we really are expecting from these machines.
There specs may be growing faster than Microsoft can create a new windows, and this could become a big problem into the 'Future Of Gaming',
no longer will us gamers who have been around see brilliant gameplay and excellent lastibility what we will receive from companies is Excellent Graphics and Brilliant Design. This will not make a good game, but hopefully as long as we the gamers still remain we can influence what will happen by becoming involved.
As long as Sega and Nintendo remain Gaming companies we will receive a classic a season, not because I hate Sony and Microsoft but because these are the only True Companies that know what we want.

I dont want amazing graphics
I dont want a pretty character.
I want a CLASSIC.

Aren't you slightly contradicting yourself there? Surely a classic is when everything about the game is perfect?
Take Civilisation, again. Superb gameplay, and certainly one of the best games I've ever played. But the graphics are awful... No-one would be unhappy if the game had superb graphics as well...
Most classics in the last year or so have been sequels. Nothing has really come out of consoles that have raised eyebrows to a new series of games, bar most of Dreamcasts games...
Ah well. E3 in May? I can't wait *that* long...
