There was this feeling. It's hard to describe.

If you imagine what it's like to have someone plunge their hand into your chest, just below your neck. Stick their hand into you and open and close it like some kind of attempt to simulate a heart beat.

And perhaps that's what it was. Perhaps you'd felt your heart beat so much that you had just forgot it was there all along.

But the challenge grabbed your neck like that. It forced your windpipe closed, or at least, it tried to. It tried to close off all you could take in.

It didn't want you to suffer. It wanted you dead. You just let yourself suffer because you didn't have the strength to do anything but defend yourself.

And you could hardly do that.

So all the world was your oyster and now it's not. Well, get used to it.

So you thought you had control, and now you're faced with a challenge. Well, fight it.

Because don't think even for a second you have complete control over what happens to you. Don't think for a moment that every piece on the chessboard is a Queen. You can't move us right across the board as you please.

You can move us. Just not in that way.

But don't think for a second that you don't challenge me.

Don't think for a moment that you're not challenging me right now.

It's just that I think I should return the favour. Just for the moment.

And there she sits. She's here again, watching every word I write and every word I say.

She asks me why am I doing this... she reminds me that the whole point, the whole point is to make someone stand on their own feet. She reminds me that the whole point of this little exercise is to bring someone strength. Not to make them fight you.

And she's right. She's always right.

This isn't about ego. This isn't about trying to make someone need you. This is about making someone find the courage to feel happy with who they are, and to remind themselves, all on their own, how beautiful they really are.

Because you know what's so beautiful when you look into my eyes? It's your reflection. It's your reflection.

And sometimes she has to remind me that. And that's how she made me smile today. And that's why I have to apologise tomorrow.

And sometimes, I just wish she was real.

But she just tells me that I don't really need her. She's perfectly happy sitting in my imagination.

And that's always the bit that makes me laugh.

But with a face like hers, it's probably best that she does...

"and to remind themselves, all on their own, how beautiful they really are."

I think Grix may be Christina Aguilera in disguise....
