Hey guys,

Hopefully I've posted this in the correct place..

I'm thinking of switching to freeola 8Mb Max 360GB, just had a few questions!

Looking at a few ISP review sites I've seen a few people comment on traffic shaping, people seem to think that they get capped to 1-2Mb at offpeak times, is this true?!

What's the latency like? What sort of pings should I expect to see in Counter Strike Source, WoW etc.

Can you change the RDNS of your static IP's?

Thanks for your time!

Usage stats are updated daily in the morning, but if you've just joined us then your stats may may not be generated for a day or so. That's assuming you are putting your connecting to good use!

@ButchML

Thanks for your reply. I managed to get to that page and can see my username, password, package, ip etc.. but no details on how much bandwidth I've missed.

Maybe I'm missing something!

If you log into your MyFreeola account and select Broadband Details & Usage from the left-hand menu you will be able to see everything you are after.

Happy new year to you all!

I finally got my broadband connection online today and I'm pleased to say the speeds and support are great. I received and helpful reply to my email with-in 7 mins! Beats any ISP I've previously been with.

Just wondering where I can find my bandwidth usage? I have looked around but with no luck!

Cheers

I'm afraid not. You have to operate a mobile network or partner with a network provider to offer that. Don't forget that mobile broadband is only good where you get a good 3G signal (so usually in built up areas) and the signal strength (and therefore speed) decreases with the distance from the mobile mast and with and increase in the number of obstacles the signal passes through.

Still if you're T-Mobile you try and make everyone think you can get mobile broadband anywhere, that's why they phone me all the time to try and get me to use it at home...which is in the middle of the country and I barely get 2G signal there. Their own website tells me that! They go away when I tell them I have the full 8Mb from Freeola:)

Do you guys offer mobile broadband? I'm expecting to be living on my own shortly and have no interest in a phone line to get broadband through.

Well, after hours on the phone I've finally managed to get my MAC code from Demon. It seems like their computer systems are always down, very hard to believe!

Anyway I've now placed an order for the VIP 200 package, hopefully it won't take too long! X-mas will be great with my capped Demon connection. I'm guessing migration will take up to 10-14 working days?

Just need to figure out how to route the different IP addresses to different boxes now.

My line still router still shows the connection as being INTERLEAVED so I guess they never changed it or it was automatically changed back?

Cheers

Blimey - you seem to have borked the forum with that wide post - I haven't seen that before! :¬)

If you ask your provider to switch Interleaving off then it might be put straight back on - this depends on the 'health' of your line.

Feel free to post your router stats so we can see what your line looks like...

You might also find this ADSL post helpful in understanding and improving your connection.

I'd never heard of interleaving before, I just took a look at my router configuration and it is indeed on! I only live 1/2 mile from the BT exchange, maybe I could get it disabled?

Any idea how to contact BT about disabling interleaving? There's so many deparments with hours of ques, I wouldn't want to call the wrong one!

Thanks for your help!
