Mistakes and mayhem. Trulli wins in a rain soaked Malaysia.

Jarno Trulli has won the Malaysia Grand Prix, his second career win. It was a wet race but not quite the monsoon conditions of a year ago. The conditions lead to numerous mistakes, even Jarno Trulli had a spin but managed to keep the lead.

Trulli's only real challengers were Ralf Firman, who couldn't really keep up and Kimi Raikkonen, who had made a couple of mistakes but had the pure speed to challenge. World Champion Panis had a quiet race and improved on 16th on the grid by finishing 11th.

The mayhem began on the first lap when Fisichella spun while battling with his team-mate for second. He spun again later ending his chances of a points finish. Michael Schumacher and Coulthard ended any hopes by colliding with each other. Schumacher spun and Coulthard smashed into the back, damaging his front wing. Schumacher came off worse with rear wing damage and a lengthy pit stop.

Other drivers that suffered in the conditions were Webber, Frentzen, Button, Alonso, R Schumacher, Villeneuve, Montoya, Da Matta, Firman, Irvine, Verstappen, Pizzonia, Barrichello and Hedifeld. Frentzen's race ended with transmission problems on lap 18. Montoya had a scare when he crashed out on lap 39 with a throttle problem.

Trulli had the lead for most of the race and won. Raikkonen did a good comeback job from a poor strategy and finished 2nd, just like he did in Australia. Firman also finished in the same position that he did in Australia with 3rd place. Pizzonia, De La Rosa and Verstappen all scored their first points of the season with 4th, 5th and 6th places respectively. Ralf Schumacher finished one better than in Australia with a 7th place finish and Button took his first point and the final points place with 8th.

I guess Da Matta is useless in the wet. More dry races needed!
