my my Blair has got himself in a right old pickle hans't he?
> You're assuming, of course, that people vote this time around...
I reckon there will be a record turnout. I honestly do. I've never seen a Nation so agitated and politicaly active since the Poll Tax disputes. That said by time the next election comes there wil be a superb new tax cut, more money found for the NHS, new roads....
Timing as they say is everything, it can't be a coincidence that the War is to start now.

They will generate a lot of publicity though, by their actions and the media is still an effective voice for them. Mr Blair is lucky that he holds such a substantial majority in the House, though we may well see Cook et al defecting to either the Conservatives or the Liberals, in the next few weeks. That would be a political quagmire for the PM and would refelct very badly upon his leadership.
I'm heartened to see that some politicians still have scruples and a concept of morality, even if I am not in total agreement with their stance. In some respects I also admire Mr Blair, as he is convinced that he is doing the right thing, even though it has ruptured the Labour party almost irrevocably through the core. Ian Duncan Smith also gets credit for not using the war to further the aims of his party, by deliberately opposing war, when he is clearly is support of it.
However both the Liberals and Tories must be in rapture; who could have foreseen such a huge government majority imploding inward, possibly leading to a hung Parliament at the next general election. Expect some "freakish" results in that one, with various independant (maybe Claire Short) gaining seats in previous Labour strongholds.

I daresay.
I somehow don't think that this war will last a week.

A message which will be forgotten once the war is over in a week's time.
