I've just been looking around and noticed Amazon.com's associates program again...

I saw this before and didn't think much of it but now I'm getting a couple of hundred hits a day on my site, I was wondering how successful this program is?

Even if it's a matter of a few quid a year, for the hassle it is, it's probably worth it...

Can someone just give me a few facts on how successful they've found the program to be if they're doing it?

I was just wondering and I remember somone mentioning about doing it and getting something out of it...

Thanks

I never used to keep a log of who and how many people visited my site, so can't give you any numbers, but I'm pretty sure you're getting more hits per day than I did per week, or even per month :).

SR use PHP for their Banner system :), so do I. If you want it, pop your mail addy down and I'll send it your way.

Amazon have a lot of banners available, so rotation shouldn't be a problem. You can even create your own banners if you like, to help advertise individual products.

I would suggest that you sign up with amazon.co.uk to get started, and move to .com if you feel the need to. You could always customise the links to go to one or the other depending on the visitor :)

Today 294 hits

Looking at some of the hostnames I've got:

filter1.brick.proxy.easynet.net
bfce.grafenwoehr.army.mil

OK, I'm stopping there after reading that last hostname!

army.mil

Hmmmmmm...

http://www.army.mil/

Nice to see I'm keeping the US army occupied!

Lets see, others:

easynet.net - A lot of these!
server.ntl.com - Well...
A co.uk hostname...

I'll get a poll working to find out, most hits come through Google.co.uk or Yahoo.com...

So in conclusion to all that nattering, I haven't got a clue where people come from!

I'll introduce a poll to find out where people are from, hopefully that will help things...

£50 isn't bad for doing nothing as you said!

How many people do you get to your site though? Just so I can get a rough estimate of how much I would be able to make from it...

Instead of just having one banner I can just use the same Javascript code that SR have used with their banners, it randomly laods a different one each time. Most people visit the site more than once so they'll see a couple of banners...

I'll have a look tonight at signing up, but I've gotta find out whether to do .co.uk or .com first!

Firstly, if I were you, I'd look into the .co.uk site, unless you know that most of your visitors are from the US.

I've signed up to it, and made about £50 over three years, which isn't much at all, but money for nothing when all you have to do is fill in a form, paste a bit of ode into your page, and let the users click and buy as they wish.

You are able to link to specifit products as well, so you could infact increase your chances of making a sale through your site by advertiing a specific product related to your page. I think you said you have clips on your site? Well you could link to software which allows peopel to make clips of their own??

You only make money if someone clicks through and actually purchases something there and then, so it's not something you can really rely on for a lot of money, but it's a nice little extra :)

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
