10 days ago I got a NTL mailshot, from 14/3/03 for 14 days they will upgrade my connection from 128k to 600k.

Tried a speed detection program and am still around the 30/31kb mark (same as 128k)

Anyone else got the offer and tried it out ?

He doesn't lie, the 128kbps service frequently hits 256kbps. It's to do with how NTL do their capping. It's advertised as 128k because that's the best they can *gaurantee*.

if their 128 is actualy 256. Wouldnt they advertise it for 256kb

NTLs 128kbps is in reality 256kbps where the exchange is not overloaded, I believe - I'm currently sustaining 20k/s from an ftp and getting websites as quick as pie with it.

That doesn't stop my connection grinding to a halt during peak times :O/

The max you're really gonna get on 128k is 16kb/s as memorandibvpem said..

No way could you get 30kb/s on a 128k connection

128/8 = 16kb/s
