XBOX CPU= 733MHz, 150 million polygons/s
PS2 CPU = 294MHz, 20 million polygons/s, which is still impressive, but compared to XBOX...
and this is just a breif of advantages XBOX had...
And the shipping problem of PS2 hasnt helped. This is just what XBOX could of hoped for, as people get mad as they cant get a PS2, and will wait for the XBOX. So sorry SONY, but it seems like whatever Microsoft touches becomes GOLD, and you have had your turn...Its Microsofts NOW!!!

still it does come from the land of the free....god bless america; they were the first to do everything ever and they're the best at everything and every hero there ever was must have been an american and bigger is better and they don't have deep rooted social and handgun problems at all.

I also agree with what you are saying...BUT the fact is..XBOX is much more powerfull than the PS2....dAlthough MHz is not that important...look at the polygons it can produce..GRAPHICS = POLYGONS....
And please be honest..when you play PS2, you will notice that it's not really that POWERFUL!! All the hype has made people wanna buy it..but when u get it..u think..okay, theres a few less rough egdes..but its NOT a huge leap from the PSX and N64. However the XBOX will do 150Million polygons/s...That means the graphics will be XTREMELY GOOD!! And you will notice a huge diffrence in terms of graphics, speed(MHz), and power.
And whats this about no games!!!!!!

Metal Gear X is in development, Final Fantasy 10 is in development, and over 100 devleopers have gone with XBOX!!
But however, i do agree, it will be a while before it comes..so enjoy your PS2 while its here.
PS: The GAMECUBE will give XBOX a hard ride.
Ok so the PS2 was over-hyped, but I'm not disappointed. And also one of the major strengths of the PSOne was the fact that it evolved over the last 5 years into someting much more than what it was originally. A prime example is Ridge Racer to RR4, or Tomb Raider to TR: Chronicles.
This will be true on the PS2 aswell.
The Mhz is a false indicator, it is true that the PsOne had a 33Mhz processor and could keep up with a PC 10 times faster. This is because the arcitecture in the PSOne and PS2 is very specialised and efficient, whereas the PC (and X-Box) is out dated and slow. So even though the X-Box has a 400 (or so) Mhz processor it doesn't make it that much more powerful.
Also the Polygon-per-second claim is exactly that - a claim.
Sony orininally stated 75m pps, and no one can get very close and I suspect that the X-Box will be the same.
Overall they are both very competent machines and the 'War' will be a very close fought 'battle'. I wouldn't like to call it, but it depends on how well accepted the X-box is - especially in Japan and how soon sony can come up with some killer titles!

Even talking about polygons, you can make figures up....
these 150million or whatever that x-box can do; are these rendered? are the light sources and shading in place when they count them? are they meaningful, moving polygononal objects or simply one static triangle at a time?
Sony went through all this when they were developing ps2, quoting all sorts of numbers; but a lot of it doesn't immediately translate into the best gaming experience of all time (refer to ps2 launch games)!
So, xbox, gamecube and ps2 lovers all, please don't listen to the numbers.....wait until you see real life performance.
Can anyone honestly believe that Sony are the only people EVER to hype a product, or that Microsoft has such a perfect morality that it would only tell the bare, unbiased truth?

Few of which are exclusive - they will also be developing for other platforms, so MS aren't exactly stealing developers from other platforms. And since you mentioned it, Sony have over 300 developers.
And end of the day gamecube games will take half the time to produce games for. so i think that is the point.,

GT3 - 20 million polys/sec, and that's with a lot of the EE's power being used for driver AI.

Incorrect assumption. The game is pretty much complete, and the extra time is for fine-tuning.

Maybe, but as people get used to the quirks of the machine, production times will fall. Even so, developers aren't likely to give up on PS2.

The point of what, exactly? Nintendo aren't intending to compete with PS2 or X-Box, and have said so themselves.
so if nintendo arnt competing with x box and ps2 who are they competing with? they aint exatcly gonna say out load that are trying their hardest to beat microsoft and sony. cos if they lose they would have to eat those words.

Don`t know what a Tambogiri is, but I`m guessing it could be a cross between a tampon and a toilet (bog) with a Japanese twisty thing on the end. Either that or it could be that violin thingy the commanders wave around when they send the soldiers of to die. Either way I very much doubt it has anything to do with the topic under discussion here!
