The N64's first person shoot-em-up games are second only to the PC, due to the 64bit console's vastly superior graphics and control pad. Just play GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil if you don't believe me.

Actually, I think the PS analogue feels much more comfortable after long periods of playing (i.e. most of them), and most FPS's use the shoulder buttons for firing. It feels awkward at first, especially after using the d-pad so much, but now it's the matural position I use.

The R button is class, I like hiding in the toilets on Goldeneye with a shotgun, in comes someone with a gun to open the door and kill me (the cornered fool)and Bam off goes their head (Unless of course they have an RCP-90 in which case I run to the bodyarmour like a coward!).
Likewise the R button is a necessity in PerfectDark too.

I am 12th best in the country, i can tell you that u need to be so good to be good. it doesnt matter if you think u are good, the first guy I went up against thought he was good. I beat him 8-0 I then didn't lose for 7 matches and was defeated on Licence to kill!

HUH.

NEVER USE THE R BUTTON!
IF U DONT THEN U ARE GOOD, IF U DO THEN PRACTICE IS NEEDED!

:D

Anyway, if you ignore the R button, it is possible to aim quite easily while moving, by using the c buttons, and moving around with the thingy.

Heh, admittedly not much competition in a little east anglian market town, but my point was I didn't have time to stop and aim, which was fine on some levels, but on others it started to get very irritating. As for priding myself on Goldeneye abilites, not for about 6 months, I couldn't even remember the damn open door button last time I played...

(Avatar? You were champion? And you stood still to aim?)

I'n interferring here...

(Champion of what? Your living room?)

It does seem a bit odd though... we in Pembroke pride ourselves on our Goldeneye abilitys... well not so much me, but I'm well up there.
