If you want some seriously original and great music get either Leitmotif or El Cielo by Dredg. Don't let the crappy band name fool you. Both could be classed as rock albums, but El Cielo is less heavy and angry. Both albums have a story that neatly ties in with the lyrics and structure of the album - once you understand it all the lyrics make sense. You can tell that a hell of a lot of thought has been put into everything including the packaging. Check them out, what harm can it do?
Although you'll probably have to get the albums from Amazon as they're not actually released here.
