And Britain blindly follows this arrogant, contemptous-of-the-law nation of murderous liars and cowardly xenophobes.

When you talk about the nation though, who/what is the nation ? The people, the government ? It's wildy open to interpretation as ultimately the nation does not exist as anything real and tangible.

Even if you lay the blame at the President's door, his decisions are based on advisors and information from a mass pile of sources, in many ways he's the figurehead and mouthpiece for policy, but not the one who drafts it. Right now the US military will be telling him the hard facts that, unless Iraq is attacked soon, the window to do so is lost for another year.

And again, I'm really interested in what anyone who thinks Iraq is innocent would do if a war uncovers the evidence that proves otherwise. You may think your right, but what if your wrong ? How can you be so sure when many who lead the anti war argument have vested self interest ?

If I am wrong, and others who think Iraq is hiding more than it lets on, then the worst that happens is another regime ends, and is replaced with a semblance of democracy, and Iraq's people can return to more normal lives.

I just posted the link and my immediate response to it.
Trust me, I do not take mainstream media at face value at all, and I've been spending the past hour verifying with more info, but nowhere else has it yet.

Oh, and Lakersrule, I'm not stereotyping the people. As someone with American relatives, and I'll repeat myself one more time for the cheap seats, as a people they are welcoming, friendly and trusting.
As a nation/government, they are overbearing, clueless, violent and dictatorial.

But then I do not consider myself represented by Tony Blair either.

I think you've watching and reading different media to me then. :)
Or is this observer article an example of the media's general pro-war stance? :P

Given your remarks after the link, I don't think it was unreasonable to assume you -do- believe what article says, no? Unless you're describing the media as "arrogant, contemptous-of-the-law nation of murderous liars and cowardly xenophobes"?

Who cares ? And, as somone pointed out, why accept it at face value when other than the journalists word, there is little proof. Is it on the tv news ? Nope, not that I've seen. It's yet more "Nasty America" propoganda.

Talking of propogande, 14 B52's just flew into RAF Fairford today, in plain sight, each capable of about 80 000 ton payloads or air launched cruise missiles. You don't deploy a quarter of your bombers just for the tv crews....

I wouldn't like to bet either way how the UN vote will go. Turkey has already demonstrated how a country can turn its back on the US, but how jubilant it's people will be in the following months is another thing. I seriously doubt they will get the money from the IMF instead, not now. What it comes down to is who wants America for a friend, and who wants to be forgotten or ignored. Whose willing to exchange long term gains for short term popularity ? In the end, possibly, if it comes to the stage where we see a UN vote then the resolution will pass, but if America and its allies don't think it will pass, then it all begins pretty soon.

Thankfully Tony Blaid is willing to do that, as is Bush, and a few others. Iraq is playing for time, today they insisted that if the threat of war is not lifted they will halt the destruction of the Al Samoud missiles. Excuse me ? Who said they dictated how this works ? If they don't disarm it simply gives the case for war more evidence. Even todays offer to release info about VX and anthrax is ridiculous. Why ? Because Iraq claimed it never had it ! Same with the missiles, they claimed they didn't exceed the range set, but now they are very slowly destroying them. And whilst were here, IRaq is deploying new missile launchers to replace them, all of which are slowly heading for the Kuwaiti border area. Bad news is that these launchers are now legitimate targets in the no fly zone.

If anyone thinks war will be avoided then I'd argue the war has begun already, all were waiting for now is the official declaration of it.

Ditto. Although I'm all for cheaper oil. As cheaper oil would equal my dad getting a 3.2 V6 24v Vectra. Which would be v nice.

Mind you, even if the price of oil did go down, the Goverment would probably just put tax on it up again to level it off..

That's the spirit.

And if it's all the same to you, I'd rather the planet didn't blow up just yet.

I don't talk about it because It gives me nightmares.

I have no control over what happens so whats the point in me worring about it.

So anytime there is a war topic you won't find me in it.

except in this one.

Sorry, I'm not trying to goad you into altering your beliefs, I'm just excusing myself for not entering into any serious form of debate on the whole issue for the last few weeks.
