Written in the 60s but the 1st time I've read it.
It was turned into a shoddy film called "Omega Man" with Charlton Heston in, but the book rules.
It's about the last guy left on earth with everyone else turned into vampires. HIs days are spent gathering the things he needs and trying to find a way to kill them and survive.
By night he barricades himself in his house, gets drunk and goes a little bit more insane each night.
I'm only about a quarter through it, but it could have been written last week for the style and pacing.
Evil Dead and Romero totally cribbed his ideas of being barricaded in a house, against all odds and supernaturl forces trying to get in and kill him.
Superb and well recommended.
Books aren't cheap and don't grow on trees you know.

Excellent.
I ordered 6 books from HMV the other day, and they too arrived in less than 24 hours.
This book of which you speak, Goatboy, sounds interesting. I love the zombie genre, especially the dead trilogy, and more recently 28 days later, (not zombies etc) so I'll definitely keep an eye out for this.
After I've read the last lot I bought, anyway. Currently half way through Irvine Welsh's Glue.

A similar thing happened with me.
A few weeks ago I orded a dvd off the net (not from Amazon though), and it took about 7 or 8 days to arrive after the release date, much longer than usual (and I was hoping it would arrive for my birthday but it didn't).
But I then ordered another dvd from the same place and it was sent this Monday and arrived to me yesterday (the day it was released in America).
Strange how the postal system works.

Ummmm, no.
They really have improved their service over the last 2 years.

I'm currently 'watching' Less Than Zero. Started watching it 2 days ago, but haven't finished yet. :(
Power Of Now is a good book. Just thought I'd share!
the omega man was a bit of a joke in comparison....
