they could have incorporated macrovision instead of the green film. That would mean you could watch the dvd through your scart and actually have something approximating decent picture quality but you wouldn't be able to record it on video.
Isn't that how all the other unmodded dvd players in the world stop vhs piracy?
The anti-piracy statement is just a way of covering themselves for not supplying hardware capable of producing decent scart rgb signals.

Same here.
What needs to be kept in mind here are the tens of thousands of PS2's that *aren't* giving any problems.
It's just like the news - only bad things get reported.
1) The Green DVD thing isn't a problem as such - it's an anti-piracy measure by Sony to stop people being able to copy DVD's to videos at the highest quality.....
2) I've had my PS2 since the 24th November and have had no problems with it at all.
