The original message in this topic was pointing out the fact about how you could edit your nickname to masquerade as another user.

This was acheived by users changing their cookies and editing their nickname. We have now changed the system and the cookie no longer holds the nickname, instead it holds an encrypted id code which will be used to identify yourselves to us.

All people returning to the site will be forced to log in for their first visit which will update the cookie to the new value. Anybody who has been using a nickname edited in their cookie will find it returns to the nickname specified in your registration. Editing the encrypted value will result in your registration not being recognised and you will be asked to log in again.
