(Or boyfriend/husband if you're a girl)

Is she a gamer? Maybe she prefers games like Wii Fit and can't understand why you enjoy picking up prostitutes in GTA and running down old ladies.

What about movies? Does she prefer movies like Sex in the City while you'd prefer to watch Watchmen?

How about TV? You want to watch the football but she wants to watch the dancing, so instead you settle for a property program because atleast then you can stare at Amanda Lamb or Sarah Beeny for an hour.

being single, i hope that one of the criterias (along with being attractive, kind etc, etc) is that she either:

a) tolerant and is ok with the hobbies and interests that i have (anime, drawing, computer games, comedy, pizza etc)

b)Got the same interests (doesn't have to be literally the same, but a varied interest is good enough. long nerd discussions and the such).

Well, my wife likes pop and euro-dance stuff to listen to (oh, and IL Divo) and I...don't.

She watches Eastenders, Casualty, Strictly and Ugly Betty, while I watch pretty much any Sci-fi or comedy. We both like watching the news!

I would hope most people share some interests with their 'significant other' otherwise their lives would be one long boring/argumentative existence...

My gf isn't really a gamer per say but she is coming around to it, she enjoys Wii Sports and Wii Play (and I'm assuming Wii Fit when I can be arsed to get it). She did get a DS (pink of course) a couple of months back and New Super Mario Bros which she loves and is determined to get all the coins for, picked up Professor Layton And The Curious Village for her last week which she is slowly getting into.

In terms of TV apart from Lost and Family Guy and Hollyoaks we don't really enjoy the same programs, she also cannot stand anything sci-fi or "scary" (Hellboy was classed as such as a general rule) and her music taste is RnB and dance, i.e. wildly different to mine.

On second thoughts, I'm surprised we are able to spend anytime together at all!
