rite to me and tell me wat u think!
Not for any particular reason (though I do own a PS2) but a lot of the abuse aimed at Sony and the PS2 is, in my opinion, unwarranted and unjustified unjustified; and some of it is just plain nonsense.
While PS2 is a great machine, it is not going to change the world like some people seem to think it should. And Sony have never said that it would.
It is a powerful machine, and it does have the ability - through that power - to add more 'emotion' to games, but only by being able to simulate more realistic worlds. Of course, it is down to the software developers to tap into that power and produce those worlds and storylines.
At the end of the day, the Emotion Engine is just a chip like any other, and it still needs good software to truly show its abilities, so don't read too much into the name.
The first generation of PS2 software varies from average to very good, but there certainly isn't anything really special at the moment. But there are some (potentially) awesome titles due this year, and considering how developers are still pushing the bounderies of PS1, I think the future of PS2 is a very bright one.
I don't rule out buying a GameCube or X-Box, but at this moment in time, neither give me the 'buzz' that PS2 gave me when I first heard about it.
People like Grix and Dan_uk feel differently, and that's fair enough. Sometimes they may come across as biased, but I'm sure I do too. Everyone has their preference, and no-one deserves to be flamed or ridiculed because of their choices.
I believe that your choice of console shouldn't be based on specs or brand loyalty, but on which machine gives you the most games that you really want to play. For me that's PS2, and that's why I've got one.
Before anyone launches attacks on Sega or Nintendo, they should remember that they were some of the major pioneers of both arcade and console gaming. They may have had a tought time recently, but without them, PlayStation probably wouldn't exist.
