No, seriously.
I worked in a burger bar in Oakwood Theme Park in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Just about every day I went in, I got tired, annoyed, and fed up.
And I also laughed so much. I miss the people there, and I miss working as a team as something. I miss nearly dying of laughter at watching the secret handshake of the rollercoaster club, I miss making hand puppets out of chip boxes and telling little kids through the puppet that "YOUR CHEESEBURGER IS DENIED!"
I miss playing poker at lunch time with my friends. I miss Tim, our resident complete idiot who was going to "blow up my house and burn my dog".
I miss carving little Jesuses out of cheese and putting them in the cheese burger in the hope that someone would open it and shout "I've SEEN THE LIGHT!" or something.
I miss us making tip boxes out of coffee cups and trying anything to try and get tips, then hiding them away when the supervisiors came near. I miss the fear of being caught.
Because it was so much fun. I couldn't work there all my life... but, I'm really looking foward to going back this year. We got so bored, but we entertained ourselves so well.
I miss finding out what "pugwash" means. I miss trying to work a completely random word into the conversation with a customer. I miss the games we used to play. I miss desperately running about in my break trying to find where the little pocket where your phone would work for that day would be, so I could text my best friend.
All from working in a burger bar. :0) So don't ever believe you're too good to work there, because there's more to it than meets the eye.
I've been spat on, shouted at and cursed at. I've had to defend others and I've risked my job for defending friends. But things like that are worth doing, completely.
Can't wait to go back this year. :0)
I've actually fancied working in a burger bar, the amounts of fun you could have.
I *think* I might have been there, ages ago though.
