What is your favourite Genre (Type of Game e.g. sports, RPG etc...)????
My favourite game Genre has to be First Person Shoot em ups. This genre is my favourite because the great multiplayer blasters that are around, like Quake III on the Dreamcast or Goldeneye and Perfect Dark (I recently posted a review of this great game - head to the N64 forum to see it) on the N64. These games have provided endless hours of fun for me and my mates on the weekends, and so the genre goes straight to the top of my list!
So what is your favourite game genre, is it "Sports" because of the great multiplayer footy games such as ISS Pro (PS1), or is it Racing games due to superb games like GranTurismo (PS1)???
Reply here, What do you think???
The most enticing thing for me is being able to take on the role of a character and develop it the way you want, so that it resembles you as closely as possible.
Good examples of the genre include Final Fantasy, Suikoden, Shenmue, Zelda, Vandal Hearts, Pokemon, Grandia....the list is endless, and those are just the console based games. For the PC there are many, many more.
I tend to stick to SquareSoft because I like their style, but Sierra, Electronic Arts, Core Design and Konami have all brought their skills to bear on the genre and have produced some great RPG's themselves.
