Are you cautious of people, and take a long time to get to know them before you trust them?
That's why now I let new people in a probationary period of not fully trusting them, but being polite and kind to them none-the-less.
Saying that, I've been hurt a number of times by the same person but I still trust them and think highly of them. Am I a fool for that?
I think people should be trusting, but okay maybe not too much but I dunno it's difficult. You guys can trust me though :) Hopefully the years (or year) that you've known me I'm quite a nice trustworthy guy.
Nevertheless, as the saying goes....
Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, and shame on me.
Though, once someone has wronged me ill be wary of him or her no doubt!
I try and meet new people with an open mind but there are some stereotypes I can't seem to shake off - car salesmen for one.
Moving away from people I am too cautious but am changing that, for example if I get the opportunity to try something new before I'd have to think about it and weigh up the pros and cons but now I go for it as though I have nothing to lose - most times you have nothing to lose anyway for example trying new foods out.
A while back I heard a great saying which can change your life for the better in so many ways - "Regret things in life you have done rather than things you haven't done" and since I started to listen to that phrase I've had so many more good experiences in life than I would have had otherwise.
