Really.
Being famous for marrying someone infinitely more talented than she, being a junkie ex-prostitute and a creator of generic Riot-Grrl music 8 years after anyone cares.
Personally I find her a calculating, talentless hack that has ridden to success on the coat-tails of others.
She seems to be one of those tedious "celebs" that acts outrageously simply because that's all she has going for her.
Hole were sub-Babes in Toyland and only really became famous after she married Cobain. And, oddly, she's done nothing of note since he ate a shotgun.
Climbing to the heights of Slebdom by being a junkie ex-prostitute that wrote in her diary "Get famous, make friends with Michael Stipe and others that can help" indicates, to me, that she probably shouldn't have ever been allowed out of her room.
And Hole at Glastonbury was one of those worst performances I've ever witnessed. She got booed and bottled before wandering off in a heroin stupour.
I can't admire somebody that exists purely as tabloid fodder.
But that's just how I feel. Doubt she'd think too highly of me.

Rubbish, she released her best stuff before they got together and was always a more interesting character. Pretty on the Inside came out before Nevermind broke and, though I loved Nirvana, I always thought that Hole were the better band.

No. That was made up, and a retraction was printed.

Basically cos she had no singing voice, could barely play guitar and yet managed to make one of the most stunning albums of the 90s (Pretty on the Inside). That and the early singles just sounded like blasts of pure emotion, she wrote some really powerful stuff and I actually really like a lot of her lyrics. To me it's what music should be about, passion over technical ability, actually trying to communicate feelings.
And being kinda reserved myself I admired her the way she never seems to let misfortune stand in the way of going after what she wanted and speaking her mind, no matter what people thought. She's admittedly gone downhill as an artist in recent times but that's not unusual. And yeah, she's got personal 'faults' by the bucketload, but she was a lot less messed up than her oft-feted husband by many accounts.
Hang on, if she's a good role model for girls, will that mean more girls will get their mammaries out? That can only be a good thing!
