A Birmingham radio station has been fined £15,000 after four people were left with severe frostbite after a competition stunt went wrong.

BRMB challenged contestants to sit on blocks of dry ice - carbon dioxide frozen at temperatures of -78C - to win tickets and back stage passes for a music festival in the city.

*stunned*

Okay the station was in the worng here, but if it was you, would you sit on a block of Dry Ice!

Even if you didn't know what it was you wouldn't sit down it for so long that you were in masses of pain.

I have handled dry ice, after holding it for a couple of seconds in hands covered by latex gloves, it really starts to sting.#

I saw one of those Christmas lectures where the talky guy used a carrot and some dry ice to knock a nail into a peice of wood.

He put the carrot in his mouth and then used the cannister containing the dry ice to bludgeon the nail into submission.

Science in action.

Hmm. Dry Ice and 'Wet' Ice look different you know. One turns into water and one into Gas. And if you have ever touched Dry Ice you know how cold it feels, they should have realised quickly and stood up.

If they compared ordinary ice with dry ice then no, they are not as idiotic as have been claimed. They are infinitel more so.

They thought it was normal ice, the kind of stuff you put in your drink. They thought "Hey, I can hold an ice cube, surely I can sit on the stuff!"

Wasn't their fault the radio station messed up and got the wrong kind of ice.

Yes, they're still idiots, but not as idiotic as you may think.

I told my brother about this, and he said something which probably ring true in the future. Places like this radio station will now have to think up stunts that are so stupid, not even stupid people will take them seriously.

The way I look at it, what I can't buy with money cannot be bought.

Sacrificing flesh and health to meet someone who will have no impact on you to compensate for it is nothing short of witless and idiotic lunacy.
