Okay, I admit, the PS2 rips up the Dreamcast with it's specs, but I have to point out, from what I've seen the latest Dreamcast games (by latest I mean in the last six months) have had much better graphics than even the best games I've seen so far on the PS2. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that the wisest choice to make at the moment (especially if money is an object!) would be to buy a Dreamcast for less than half the price, and with more than double the ammount of games than that of the PS2! does anyone else agree?

You know what? I think you're right there Banksy! Although I have to respect the PS2 for it's technical capabilities, I think it might be another case of "too little, too late". And then we could also go into great detail discussing how the X-Box could smash them both aswell!

A lot of you seem to be pointing out that DC has been out for A YEAR (not two) longer than psx2 which explains it's advantage. well with all due respect Sony will never catch that up. I see the argument but DC will always have that year advantage just as psx1 always had it over n64. There is no doubt that psx2 is the better equipment and now and again (mgs2) I'm sure it'll will be proven just like now and again n64 proved it was superior than psx. Howewver you'll prob always see the two machines running on equal footing for two or three years to come.
Whilst I'm here I would also like to say how disappointed I am with psx2. bar timesplitters (which is noly good in multiplayer) there is nothing for psx2 which comes close to Dc and Shenmue. I would rather have a Dc than psx2 at this point if I didn't already own a system

I just got hold of a PS2 having owned a DC for a year. Been playing Quake 3 on DC and TimeSplitters on PS2. It's obvious when doing this that PS2 is by far and away the more powerful machine when playing 4 player as there is no slowdown. We'll see what the future brings but I personally can't wait for MGS2. That and Half-Life (which is supposed to be PS2ing) will make it all worth while and if we're going to go on about games, yes, MSR is an all time classic but GT still has way more appeal.

Yes, but it was released 2 years later, so you would expect it to be BETTER than the Dreamcast, would you not?

PS2 must be better, because the Dreamcast has been out for 2 years and the PS2 a mere 2.5 months. As Grix Thaves said:

"...both consoles are equil"

And the PS2 has caught up with it in a month.

At the moment, I say both consoles are equal.

But the PS2 will eventually overtake the DC. Midyear / 3rd quarter.

Depends on what you want to play.

Personally, I wouldn't get a DC because the games I want are coming out on PS2.

Also remember that DC has been out far longer than PS2 and you are now seeing 2nd/3rd gen games. PS2 is still in its infancy, at least as far as Western developers are concerned.
