Does anyone else think this exept for the specs theres a lot of simelaritys.
Controller: They are both the same kinds of controller, same buttons memory cards fit in them both pretty big there just differnt colours and a slightly differnt shape.
Games:A lot of the dreamcast games have sequels on the xbox.
jsr+jsrf,msr+pgr,shenmue1&2+shenmue 2,sega gt+sega gt 2002.
Online:Dreamcast was the first online console for gaming (and internet) Xbox carrys this on with xbox live.
Price drops:Dreamcast started with price drops and bundles xbox is doing the same.
Flops:Dreamcast "flopped" even though it was a great console (probably my best)Xbox looked as if it was going to do the same(now the sale figures have picked up though)
So what do you think maybe microsoft got there inspiration from the dc but if they did they incorporated the bad points aswell.
But the Xbox will live on with me even if it does die out like the dc.

So, apart from the different specs, design, company, games, marketing, sales, the Xbox is the same as the Dreamcast ? Hmmm time for a rethink there.

Fair point, but I don't think the controller design affects sales massively.

Seeing as these were Sega's biggest successes, and the company has no console of its own anymore, its only fitting they release them elsewhere> Crazy Taxi games are released across multiformats, as has the Virtua Fighter licence, Sonic e.t.c. Also pretty sure that PGR is not a Sega game.

But, in America and Japan, all 3 next gen consoles are online.

But, with the exception of Nintendo, the other two consoles (Xbox and PS2) have used price drops, as has the Psone. Result ? Greater sales, whilst the console whose price stayed at RRP lost out on sales last Xmas.

No chance now, sales are rising, Xbox Live is doing well with over 1/4 million subscribers already, and MS have said they are in this long term. Also, unlike Sega, Bill's chequebook isn't going to run out.

The main reason I was attracted to the Xbox was because it reminded me (in many ways) of what the Dreamcast 2 would be like, or what the Dreamcast would've been like had it been more commercially successful and survived.

So yeah, in a curious kind of way I agree with the sentiment of the original post.

Some quite interesting points there, I never thought of the X-Box as a 'Dreamcast 2'. But now that you mention it, it does have its similarities.

Mabe you guys all missed one very important point.

Look at the front of the dreamcast.

Look at the right hand side of the front panel.
