I got an email from Dell/NTL today offering a decent offer on some PC's - they must have known that I wanted my own one, but the PC that I am interested in is a P3 800mhz (their basic model) complete with a 17inch screen (£50 extra) and various other things for around £650 - £700.

I don't have that much ATM, and I don't need 800mhz, but can anyone recommend any places to get a decent, 500mhz is all I need, P3?
SR have one, but £1000 is too much, despite everything that comes with it.

MESH PCs are good www.meshcomputers.com

I just ordered one, you can configure your own system and it comes out cheaper then anywhere else.

My first PC was a Dell (386 SX33, wow) and last year I got a Gateway PIII 500MHz 64Mb (no DVD) for £764. Well worth it, you can pick and choose online at
Gateway's site (URL withheld but easily findable).

Never had a problem with either, so I can highly recommend both manufacturers. For price, Gateway just edged it by £30, but today you could probably shop around and get a decent 500MHZ for under £650, but you may have to prepare to build it yourself. For service, Gateway have live online tech help, which is 24/7 365 days a year, and very easy to use (bit like this forum).

So, have a look at the Gateway Performance Range, that's what I got (upgraded it now though), it's very good.
