I've got a handful of games (also from eBay) which I'm dying to get into, but with the exception of GTA Vice City, my console seems unable to read any of the other discs. Shenmue II, GTA 3, Jet Set Radio/SEGA GT...
Okay, so the seller pointed out before hand that there was some kind of problem with the lens, perhaps, as it wouldn't read discs unless they were in top condition. Being a used console, £50 with 3 games, you've got to expect a problem here and there, anyway.
So, I'm left with the situation of not knowing what exactly I can do about this.
I've seen Xbox lens-cleaning disc kits available on eBay (99p +£1.50 p&p), but are they really any good? Will they do the job?
After a quick search on Google, I noted that it could be more to do with the mis-alignment of the laser, or something, and that the way to tackle this would be to open up the console, invalidate the warranty, bla bla bla. Unless, of course, I pay over the odds to have it 'serviced'... Not that I know of anywhere that services consoles anyway.
I don't anyone, who has an Xbox, to have had a problem come along quite like this one. If any of you have been here yourselves, I'd really appreciate your advice. Likewise, those of you who haven't, but are perhaps more educated in dealing with these sorts of things...
Thanks anyway. :)
(Hope someone can HELP!)
I suppose I could keep bidding to force this sucker into paying odds of around £30 for it, but how long before he notices the seller has more than one on auction?
It's my understanding you cannot withdraw/cancel bids, right?
If you don't pay up, you get bad feedback.

Sudeki. That's a game that visually caught my eye some time ago. I've heard it's an RPG aswell - would any of you suggest getting it; at a later date of course?
Buy San Andreas aswell, plus, get Ninja Gaiden Black when it comes out in about a month of two. I was too quick and bought it a month back, not realising Black is only £20 and contains 70% more content.
For those of you who've done this before, what sort of tools do you need?
Any kind of 'specialist' screwdrivers? My Xbox came without instructions you see. On the GameCube's controller I've noticed you need a screwdriver with a Y-head! :o
If someone suggests Thomson, I'm happy to go with that. Samsung may well be the best, but I can sadly see the Xbox going back into storage in a year's time, just like my Dreamcast did in the early-GameCube days. I can't justify all that extra money, even the postage charges are doubled in some cases!
I've bid £18, just to see if I can save all of £2 and still get it for less than £25. If not, I get payed again week after next. :)
Damn, here goes another £25! I just crossed the £100 mark when I got home from work earlier today (two <£10 GBA games) and I was planning on cooling down my interest in eBay for the time being, but oh well, I did an extra day at work this week so perhaps that £30-odd might cover for SOME of it... ;)
Panzer Dragoon Orta should arrive Monday/Tuesday (£7.99+, brand new, factory sealed) - plus, I want a new controller 's', since the console I bought came with a MadCatz pad. :P And £16 +p&p to go there then, but at least it's new.
God help me!! :S

But perhaps one of you can tell me whether Fable: The Lost Chapters is on its way to the Xbox or not, to save me bidding for the original version now?
> Actually, Phillips ones are the crappers to have
Really?
That explains why my Thompson's never had any problems then.
Aren't Phillips part of Sony? Hmmmmm.
