I ordered the Optical Out lead on the LEKTROPACKS website, and it only took a day to arrive!!! I could not believe it, it would probably be 2 days if it was normal during the day ordering. I find the lead is too short (As I moved my PS2 into a shelf). But it's fine at the moment as it is, I don't want to order one unless I have to!
I managed to get it all connected up on Thursday night. It took me a few hours to do it all as there are loads of Leads for it, and it all comes out from the Subwoofer, but a few wires also come from the Decoder/Amp. After you manage to find a good place for the speakers and to make sure there is enough wire to go around, you put the Optical lead from the Amp into the PS2. But it sounds wonderful! It does not sound perfect, as I still have a few Speakers I would like to move, but do not have any Stands to put them on.
I also have the problem about hiding the wires away, as it can be difficult when there is not enough wire that I could do more of, but I will find a way. So for a total of £209.98, you get a complete Surround-Sound Setup. The only thing is that how can I connect this device to my T.V, would I need to take the Optical Lead out from the Amp before I connect the Phone Jacks from the Amp to the back to the Video Player?
Anyway, my advice is to go out and buy one now while you still can. Don't try and order the Digitheatre of the Currys Website, as they do not have it, go to the Store to buy it, they are open until 8PM every evening, so there should be no excuses :P
I have a set up where I took the old SCART lead I had for PS1 and used that (it appears to be the same). This gave me good TV image and the AUX outputs for my stereo.
This worked great until I got the urge for Dolby 5.1
To get this I drove to the local SONY retailer and asked him what I needed to hear 5.1 from my PS2. Simple he said, anything that has an optical input and supports 5.1
So I took him up on the offer and bought a 5.1 digital amp with one optical input called a D input (£330, I bought a nice one, although there were cheaper ones).
All that remained is the connector. Again not a problem he had one of those. It was simply called a D to D optical lead (£10).
I took all these home and plugged them together and sat back. Nothing happened so I went into my preferences screen on the PS2 and changed the optical output option to ON. Ta da it all came together.
The whole set up is simple if you check beforehand with an expert on what is compatible and what leads you need.
After that all i had to do was hide the cabling from view. This is still proving to be a major hassle but is coming together slowly.

Now then, I was speaking about if there was any Setups. I went into my Local Blockbusters, and found a leaflet about a System called: "Videologic Digitheatre". I read it on the Bus back to work, and found that it works on VCR's, but more to my supprise it works on the PS2 as well! I had finally found a Surround Sound Setup. There are 2 Versions of this system. The first is the normal Digitheatre, which costs £249.99.
The other is the DTS System, which costs £399.99
You can buy these from Comet or Currys, I went to the store myself to see these. I get paid on the 18th, so when I can afford it, I will let you all know if it is worth the money, unless someone buys it here first!?
