HI DC here, posting from the USA. I really don't understand you Brits, we invent a game called Football and you have to copy our name. I mean, your not even original. You also copied Rugby rom it. I Play quaterback and got loads of touch downs last season, I hope to get into a good college football team. You guys should blay real football rather than boring soccer. And use that name rather than copying ours!

I've invented a game for America called Kickball. Two teams of 700, with no logical numbering on their shirts, one ball, a pitch the length of Texas, the first player to kick the ball wins (the ball is in the middle of Texas, both teams start in Australia.

Plenty of scope for tactics, ads, minimal action, more ads, more tactics then replays of the tactics, ads, film interlude, ads, someone kicks the ball and everyone goes "whoop!".

They score 100000 points for kicking the ball. So every game ends 100000-0.

Brilliant.

i doubt whoever this is, is actually from America in the first place and just someone trying to stir up the old football debate again.

Ermm i think you may have rugby confused with a game that's played on ice with skates and sticks and is called Ice Hockey because to my knowledge the rugby officials don't let the players have a good old scrap for about a minute and then get involved instead they jump in straight away easy mix up i know :|. And actually there's quite alot of women rugby teams.

Anyway as far as rugby being tougher than American football ........ LMAO!!! ....... Have any of you actually watched more than 1 game of American Football? actually has anyone watched a game before making that opinion? All you had to do was watch the Buccaneers vs Bears game last night and you'd know from some of the hits flying around there why they wear pads. The simple reason being is that if they didn't most players would have about a 1 game career. There'd be broken necks, broken shoulders, broken legs etc etc and even with all that padding there's still injuries. Warren Sapp could easily cripple any of those little rugby men. You got a 300+ pound man running at you and then smashing into you with what seems like a force of a bus you're going to want some protection as well.

Now i was a rugby fan when i was younger, more into the rugby league stuff when Wigan were dominating everything and then i found American football and never looked back since. In rugby for most of the game the players will hug each other to the ground though yes there are some very strong hits but only about 1 or 2 a game and they just run into each other trying to gain about a inch of ground, whereas in American Football they at least try to avoid being tackled (though some plays such as the Half Back Blast includes just running straight up the middle of the pack and gaining more than a yard if you're lucky)

And lastly as far as it being called football goes there's a very simple explanation there. There wasn't such a thing as a football as us Brits know it over there when they invented American Football. What we call a rugby ball they were calling a football back then so obviously they're going to call the game after what it's actually played with. Of course football was already around at the time so they had to call it American Football. It has nothing to do with using your feet at all, which are actually used quite alot in a very tight game with all the punting and field goal attempts.

Anyway enough of my rant most people have already made their mind up about the old game of the pigskin so i'm not going to try and convert you.

Let's all prance around in tights and helmets and massive shoulder pads while skipping to a line. WHOOOOOOO!

Rugby is a real game compared to American football. Rugby men have no protection, they can punch each other in the face and get away with it, and how many women do you see playing it?

Soccer is short for AsSOCiation football, and you will find that we created football before America.

Football (english and real name) is right because we use our feet more than waer poofy helmets and hold the ball using our hands.
