It's a shame, but it looks as though Futurama doesn't have a future. Despite being nearly as big a hit as The Simpsons, Fox have decided to end the run of the space based animated show.

Every episode I've seen has been entertaining, with some great one-liners. Perhaps they felt, like with the Simpsons, that it was running out of ideas and didn't want it to get stale, but it's more likely that the viewing figures weren't that good.

Still, I guess we're lucky here that we haven't even got half way through the episodes that have already been made, so there's plenty more to come for now.

It was a bit of a flop in the States, but it was kind of a catch 22 thing. Fox wouldn't show it in a prime time slot as it wasn't getting the ratings, heck, they wouldn't even give it a constant air time from week to week. Because of the constantly changing time slot, people didn't know when to watch - so ratings fell and it kept moving further and further from prime time.

God only knows why - maybe Fox were worried it was distracting MG from The Simpsons or something. There has been a general downturn in the fortunes of all "adult" animation shows anyway, so maybe Futurama was as much a victim of its genere's failings as its own.

it's the rule of television to cancel everything that is actually good and funny so that we're all a load of monotonous (sp?) drones who can't think for ourselves and lets the government control our minds................. just a theory anyway :)

I'm more annoyed that they canceld Family Guy but Futurama still ruled. One thing's for sure, the day The Simpsons ends will be a very sad one indeed. It just won't be the same without having new Simpsons on Sky One on the occasional Sunday. I know after the show finishes we have three movies to look forward to but still...

Why?!

Its really funny, and has loads of fresh/clever ideas to bring to the stale cartoon genre.

All the innuendos and throwbacks to ur day are hilarious.

As is Bender!

HA!

It took the Simpsons ten years to get stale, because it was constantly evolving. Futurama hasn't changed since the beginning, and already the jokes are wearing thin. I love Futurama, but the recent episodes just aren't as funny, as they suffer from the curse of the Simpsons, where the actual plots are terrible and unfocussed.

It's had a good run, let it die... but keep Family Guy! (which is starting to go the same way as Futurama, but not yet)

Aw man. Futurama truly is a brilliantly funny series. It's true, every one I've seen, theres been at least one one-liner that's had me in stitches. It's a shame it's going.
