Bah, guitars. Can't anybody learn an original instrument? Unless you've had about 10 years experience, it'll sound crap, and most people only want a guitar because everybody else has one. I just don't understand why people can buy 3 different guitars in a year, on the basis that their previous one isn't good enough. What about the piano, saxophone, trumpet, violin, cello, heck even the drums are better than guitars. I'll tell you all this now:

You'll never make it in a rock band.

I know it's your dreams and everything, but starting to learn the guitar in years 7 - 11, just as everybody else is, is not the way to do it.

I only I mean the easy bit of it.... I can pick up on things easily, but I seriously hurt my fingers if I play for, like like like, 10 minutes.

Loads of my friends learn guitar, so everytime I see them I grab the guitar and play it all afternoon, forcing them to teach me something (they don't mind, gets away from the bad noise).

"Why don't you get a guitar?"

"Because guitars suck. And I can nick yours."

I learnt how to play The Man Who Sold The World's riff yesterday. I rule.

It's not so much the playing guitar that I hate, it's the fact that everybody does it. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying it's just another bandwagon, as the title says. I mean, people who buy a guitar and play it and like it, fine. People who keep buying extra stuff, spending loads of money on guitars just to look cool are absolutely stupid. And I hate having to listen to some of the crap that people try to play well, because they can't.

It's a case of 'look at me, I can play 's song . Aren't I cool. Oh look, I can only manage half the notes at half the speed. Aren't I cool?

Gah. Weak argument maybe, but it is just a bandwagon.

"Me and my mate started playing guitar at the same time, quite a while ago now, and it's been very helpful really - we encourage each other to practise, we both have the same influences but different strengths, help each other out, but there's always competition between us to push us on."

Just like my mates and I when we work out. It's healthy competition. I see a friend can do more push ups, I practice more till I'm level. I see a mate can bench press more, I practice till I'm level.

Then we all put on our pink spandex and dance in the gym to "It's Raining Men"

Come on, get the ruler and well just wack the goods out on the table if you really want...

Current favourite is a custom sparkle gold finish Les Paul costing close to a grand and it is the most beautiful object I've ever owned. Problem with that is I'm a little scared to take it out to mates houses to play and get all grouchy when someone trys to touch it. So I more often than not end up playing on a crappy £90 Squire jobbie or the £120 accoustic which is still going strong.
