I'm looking to pick up a good multi-region DVD player, but I havnt got a clue what to look for?

All I'm after is a cheap DVD player (hopefully around 100 quid, but up to say 150?), which can play all region DVD's (inc. RCE DVD's)...

I'm not that fussed about any features like in-built Kareoke, output to PC, etc... just after a good picture/sound quality...

Are their any player anyone particuarly recommends?
Or at the budget level are they largly hit and miss whatever I'm after?

I hav'ny got a clue what I'm looking for here, so any advice will be a bonus :)

Yeah, I was reading about the rewards at some site (price comparison site I think) ... I hadnt realised Kiro was from the same people who made Yelo though?

I've noticed there seems to be a lot more multi-region DVD players around than there used to be...

Lots of Pioneers and Toshibas at around 100-130....

Problem is they all seem to offer the same features, but no real guides of sound or picture quality... bug_ger! :)

The Toshiba 220E is available on the net, in a multi-region/RCE edition at £140. The bog standard R2 only is £120.

The Kiiro x5 looks tasty mind. They used to be called Yelo, who are reknowned "bargain bucket DVD" manufacturers. That's a special reserve special which by all acounts is special.

I'm also tempted to get a new DVD, as my old one only has coxial out and my new Yamaha VS10 surround kit (a bargain at £200)is optical-in only. Doh!
Scarily it is the same Proline 2000 that Goatboy has, another coincidence? I picked it up from Comet when I was working there because of the 167 code thing and it was about £80 at the time.

I've had my 100% trusty Samsung 709 for about 3 years now.
It plays all all-region dvds no probs, even ones with RCE, and i've NEVER had any problems in terms of reliability.
It's probably really cheap now too, as I got mine for about £230 years ago, so the price must have come down more.

I have a Yelo 800 which I bought in the summer. Its a great player with no need for a code, stick in any DVD and it plays it even RCE. Also plays VCDs, SVCDs, MP3 plus another load of things. Plays VCDs that wouldnt work on my friends player. This model is getting on a bit but has won a few awards as being the best Multi-region DVD player. It also has a built in 5.1 decoder so if you have the speakers you can use it on the player without the need for a decoder. It has all the normal type of settings to change output i.e. NTCS or PAL and LetterBOX, Widescreen, fullscreen etc.
