What do they actually mean?

It can't be a lack of calcium as I drink loads of milk!

Is it too much?

I've got loads of these white 'spodges' on my nails and I've never found out the true reason for them!

Enlighten me!

I used to have exatly the same a few years ago, but they're barely noticeable now.

Judging by what people have said, though, is that it's either some kind of bruise/mis growht/ mutation (:D) of somekind.

I play hockey a lot so that may be something with the knocks?

I eat enough milk and drink enough meat! :c)

I'll just ask a biology teacher or something next time I see one!

Definately Zinc! Eat stuff like meat(especially chicken & fish etc), and dairy stuff & veges & eggs, it goes on & on!!

But as for the dents in the fingernails, APPARENTELY, it's due to things like stress, but don't trust me on that one... there are heaps of possibilities, some ppl say it's cos of genetic diseases...

I found this somewhere...::

When the body is not at full health it diverts energy away from the less important features of the body to those that need more attention and i guess that your body does not pay attention to your fingernails when it is busy repairing or fighting other wounds or illnesses...

Might not be true though!! :-)

I spent a while looking around on the net to try to find out what the answer to this actually is. Around half the websites I checked say that the white marks are caused by everyday knocks, and the rest say it's Zinc deficiency.

Maybe Zinc deficiency leads to nails that will mark more easily? I haven't had any of those white marks for years, and I must have knocked my nails a fair bit in that time.

I drink LOADS of milk!

I mean loads!

Dinnertime and other times!

It's basically, when you brusise you fingers, the underneath the nail gets brusied, once the brusi from underneat goes, the white mark you make becomes visable
