Right guys, Ive been thinking about this for a while now, but now I can afford to do this. Im gonna learn to play the guitar.

Does anyone else here play? I could really do with some advise on which are the best guitars to get and some things I may have to look out for when buying one. I was thinking along the lines of a Fender and also a Fender amp.

I got a Squire strat (black- nice) with a 10, maybe 15 watt Amp, pics, strap, stand, cord, video etc not too long ago, from www.guitar-mania.co.uk I believe, though it might be .com

yeah... i wanna start learning aswell, i think ive made up my mind and ill get the squier strat pack aswell...

Thanks for all the replies but I have decided wot Im gonna do.

Im gonna get a 'Squire Strat and a 15watt amp' its not too expensive so it will do to get me started, after all, I dont want to spend too much incase Im no good.

I listed a few earlier in the topic, but don't try and play something to hard to begin with, it will just become frustrating :).

I'm getting an Electric guitar for christmas.

Most likely a Fender Squire and an amp. Its gonna be great! I'm getting lessons and stuff aswell (of course) But anyone know any good tab sites where I can get Red Hot Chili Peppers tabs from?

Just get a guitar teacher, mine teaches me anything. Also active pickups absolutely kick but.

Cool. That's the best way. Get someone who you like the style of music of to teach you - school lessons teaching you the teddybears picnic will just annoy. He will also probably have a mate who is selling a guitar and amp. Starting up will be easy with him.

Agree with the incredible sound part but its hardly a beginners guitar.
When you start out, you wanna sit down and get comfortable because its gonna take a while.

Its near impossible to play a V whilst sitting down.

Ive already got my teacher sorted out though, Slaveunit. Im gonna get lessons from one of my friends, he is part of a band called 'Watershed', he has played at a gig in Glasgow, so he knows what he's doing and he is also coming with me when I go to get a guitar.
