Both Xbox Live Arcade and Virtual Console have the potential to make retro gamers very happy. But programmers can also create games for both of these as well, meaning that we might see some 'retro' style new games in addition to some old favorites. Even PS3 has now got in on the act by promising Megadrive downloads.

But what do you want to see on either of these systems? What would be your ideal retro game list for downloading?

I played Golden Axe in Sixth Form a couple of years back (someone brought a MegaDrive in... Oh what fun!)

Golden Axe has actually aged really badly. I really couldn't play it, the controls felt slow and inaccurate, and the game was annoying...

Streets of Rage 2 player was the way forward! :D

But I assume MegaDrive games will not be subject to 'exclusivity' things...? Because Wii is getting MD games too isn't it? Would have thought it'd be rather stupid for Sega to release some MD games for one format and some for another... But I suppose both with have different emulation software running, so sometimes it might take time to convert to both...

Soleil! That was a great little action/RPG game. And Story of Thor! Although I do have ROMs of both of them... But they're still great.

i'd quite like to see Toe Jam and Earl with On-line co-op. I think developers that go the extra mile will get the sales. Straight ports are fine, but bumping games up to HD, 5.1, Online/Co-Op will be better.

Golden Axe would be great in co-op. Streets of Rage?

There's plenty of potential, but straight ports aren't teh way forward.
