Okay Halloween is just a week away, time to prepare for your second favourite pagan holiday. Do any of you put up any deocrations or carve any pumpkins?

We tend to just carve a pumpkin and put it in the wiundow at the front of the house to let people know we're giving out treats. We don't really get a lot maybe less than ten and usually have tons of sweets left over.

We're still undecided what treats to give this year. Here's a list of treats that most (American) children don't want to receive on halloween. I think only pb has tried all of them. Their smarties look like those love hearts. Can't believe baked goods made the list, I would have loved delicious cupcakes or cookies.

So any recommendations on what treats to give or not to give for halloween? Are any of the freeola parents (@ngel, pb, dragonlance) taking their kids out to bug the neighbours again this year?

Just go to poundland and buy a load of sweets. The kids won't notice. Quantity over quality is usually the issue here.

I did see sweets that were brilliant and they were strawberry flavoured blood packs.

Just don't rip them ok? they are very runny. Oh and the complementary gummy bads and razor blade, nails, washing powder or asbestos filled chocolate muffins.

It's our flatmates birthday on the day after, so we're doing a whole Friday-Sunday party thing. Drinks and spooks on Friday in the flat, Halloween clubbing (everyone dresses up), then going Thorpe Park on Sunday.

Should be great!

Usually carve a pumpkin. One year I carved a swede due to there being no pumpkins available, worked just as well. However, the smell was pretty damn horrific and takes an age to go away! Might have to try carving some other vegetables or fruit... like melons or something.

Also the same year as the swede carving, we had trick or treaters knock on our door. At the time we were away on holiday and my mum didn't want to be disturbed. We didn't have any sweets and the only thing we had at hand were dog biscuits, so they got a handful of them instead. Apparently good for teeth though!

This year I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing, my brother is throwing a big Halloween party at his pub so might go along to that. Most likely going to go as a pirate. :)
