As soon as he has mentioned this, Inter Milan are being linked with a bid for with Ryan Giggs.

However, I don't think a major re-building is required we still have some of europes finest players, but by his means I expect him to get rid of a big names - so could this be the end for the likes of Giggs, Barthez, Veron, Butt, G.Neville?
Rather than a 'major rebuild' - I would like him to tweak the team because we do have a strong backbone in Rio, Keane, RVN and excellent support from Beckham, Scholes, O'Shea, Solksjaer
Alternativly, he could be just saying this to make the players put more effort into matches and show a bit more hunger like they have in the last couple of matches?
So what do you think?
Should he build a new team or freshen things up with a few buys, keeping the present pool of players on their toes.
Maybe it is time to re-build - but then who do we bring in as replacements?
Possibilities:
Ronaldinho - Giggs?
Escude - P.Neville?
Shevchenko - Solkjaer?
Toldo - Barthez?
Forlan - Striker
Solskjaer - Striker
Veron - Attacking Midfielder
Phil Neville - Reserve Team
That way we might see some results and a return to the old united. If not after all that then yes it is time to rebuild United.
Get somoe young talent, and make them world-beaters, instead of trying to buy a ready-made team at huge cost.
Apart from Bergkamp, who was a big-name star when they came to Arsenal?
Exactly.
Henry was a bit-part French winger who was unhappy in Italian football. Kanu was unknown. Ljungberg was another faceless Swedish player. Who'd heard of Lauren? Vieira? Gilberto was only in the Brazilian team because someone else was injured. Cygan is awesome and only cost around £2.5 million.
Our entire squad probably cost less than United have paid out on just three players, and of those three, only RVN is in my opinion anywhere near worth his value.
Rio seems to be permanently injured, and isn't that great a defender anyway. Yes, he's good, but £30 million good? No way.
And I'm sorry, but however good Veron may be for Argentina, he continues to prove pretty much useless at United. Now whether you attribute that to his own ability or the tendency Ferguson has to play him out of position is irrelevant - he's not doing what he was bought to do.
If it's him not pulling his weight, get rid of him. If it's the manager's tactics - he needs his head examined. Who pays that much money for a player and puts him where he can't get the best from him?
I think Fergie is too stubborn - he won't sell him because that indicates he got it wrong and wasted the money. He won't play him where he should, because that shows he's had his tactics wrong for months. It's a no-win situation, unless Veron gets used to the role and starts performing. But surely he should have done that already? A truly great player is versatile.
Feel free to tell me I'm a stinking Gooner who knows not what I speak about, but I know how I'd feel that way if it were the situation at Arsenal.
> 6 players injured, and we have to bring out the youth team, it's

Thats something that really annoys me, he has sold decent players in Cole and Yorke, yet has failed to replace them amicably? did he expect that the signing of forlan alone would give good back up to RVN and Ole? but it doesn't just stop there - there is lack of support in the full back area aswell because we are having to fill them gaps with players who are not meant to be playing there, I remember Wes played there a few times and also John O'shea is currently being drafted in and out of that position, what we need is a thuram style player who can play anywhere along the back four - rather than just play any player in positions that they are not suited to and expect them to put in a brilliant performance.
Ortega, in terms of just buying players to win things, in this case I don't think that is the answer nor is it the solution that Ferguson's looking for - he thikns that the hunger and determination has gone from some of the players in the current team and is looking to replace them rather than just buy for big name players and try and integrate them together to form a team ala Real Madrid.
6 players injured, and we have to bring out the youth team, it's pathetic.
Just look at Real Madrid. They should be invinsible after buying the likes of Figo, Zidane and Ronaldo in consequtive seasons. But they have gone 5 champions league games without a win and even lost to an average Roma team at the Bernabeu. And we should have been invincible after we bought Veron and Van really.

Show me a link for this because If I remember correctly all he said was
"it was a turning point for us" - bit different than what you just said.

£50 Million for Keown? - I think 50p is a bit much! :-)

Talk about indecisive!
Still, Arsenal could profit from a rebuilding. You paid £30 million for Rio, so we should get at least £50 million from you for Keown. :-)
He's probably just said it to put fans' minds at rest, in the hope that Fergie woken up to the badness of the current team.
