Just had a browse through the teletext and Ferguson has hinted that it maybe time for him to 're-build' Man Utd - "Assess the Nucleus" as he put it.

As soon as he has mentioned this, Inter Milan are being linked with a bid for with Ryan Giggs.

--------
However, I don't think a major re-building is required we still have some of europes finest players, but by his means I expect him to get rid of a big names - so could this be the end for the likes of Giggs, Barthez, Veron, Butt, G.Neville?

Rather than a 'major rebuild' - I would like him to tweak the team because we do have a strong backbone in Rio, Keane, RVN and excellent support from Beckham, Scholes, O'Shea, Solksjaer

Alternativly, he could be just saying this to make the players put more effort into matches and show a bit more hunger like they have in the last couple of matches?

So what do you think?

Should he build a new team or freshen things up with a few buys, keeping the present pool of players on their toes.

Maybe it is time to re-build - but then who do we bring in as replacements?

Possibilities:

Ronaldinho - Giggs?
Escude - P.Neville?
Shevchenko - Solkjaer?
Toldo - Barthez?

I reckon it could be another one of those things he's trying to do to get his players re-motivated and back at their best.
I've heard about things he's done like this before, like drawing random players' names from the hat in-order to pick the team for the next game.

But if he was to do something in January...
I reckon we would only see one-or-two players on their way-out, but I still think we would only see players leaving if Fergie already has something planned up-his-sleeve, perhaps a deal that is already in-motion today maybe?
If anyone's to leave, then it has to be someone along the back-line for me, and Phil Neville seems like a prime-candidate. I'd also like to see him pursue his interests in Escude, as a replacement and back-up for the left-back spot.

I don't really see many midfielders leaving - if any. Not now anyway. But Chadwick may decide to leave in the summer, and I have a feeling we may also see Veron on his way in June/July.
But the strikers will remian - I have no-doubt about it!
However, I fear we may lose more young stars in Nardiello and Webbber foolishly like Fergie has done in the past with David Healy.

"the times" reckon Claudio Lopez will be offered to Fergie in January.

and the "daily express" reckon Recoba could be part of any deal for Giggs.

Solskjaer Van Nistelrooy

Giggs Veron Scholes Beckham

Keane

Silvestre Rio G.Neville

(Anyone in goal who can save. "Ahem" Barthez)

Is a good formation although there would be no place for brown or O'shea except the bench.

yeh, watford want him on a permanant basis, I just hope United don't let him go, but I fear the worst because Man utd haven't exactly called him back - at a time when we could do really do with him!

Webber who went out on loan to watford played very well and looks like a good prospect.

Chadwick is an average player, we had better than him in Jonathan Greening/Mark Wilson - but Fergie (idiot) sold them. We also have Ben Muirhead as a young striker who looks good and an excellent midfielder with the surname of Wood, ive seen a fair few reserve games this season and he's looks like like he has great potential, watch out for him in the coming seasons. (if we don't sell him that is!) *shrug*

I agree. I would much rather djordic in the mix than P. Neville.
How do you rate Chadwick?

But has he put faith in the youth system?

If we have an injury crisis he doesnt seem fit to play any young players in there, he'd rather play P.Neville in Centre mid than a more than capable Djordic, he doesn't give Nardiello a chance on the left because he'd rather stick Veron or Fortune out there.

In my mind the youth are not being given the chance and he doesn't have a faith in the current youth system.

It seems that Ferguson has put his faith in the youth academy to provide some new Giggs' and Beckhams, and it just isn't happening.

He needs to shell out o few million on getting 6 or 7 squad players.
