Heard it on the news when I was half asleep this morning, so some of this may be a bit wrong:

Apparently, teachers in London and the south east have started a 24 hour strike against, guess what? Low pay.

They want an extra £6,000 a year to help cover the cost of living which is, admittedly, high in those areas.

Do you think this strike would have happened if the firefighters weren't striking?

General thoughts?

On the whole France thing, NO! I'm half-french. The government, and it's leader Chirac (sp.) are corrupt. He's been caught for criminal offences, such as bribes, but French law states he's untouchable. If he wasn't in power, he'd be in jail.

And, the runner-up at the last election was a facist, racist twunt, who denies the Holocaust ever happening.

Effectively, leaving is what firefighters are doing at the moment, leaving active duty. Now just imagine the current situation, but long term. What you're saying is fine for the odd disillusioned worker, but leaving en masse is not going to solve any problems.

You've gotta remember that we're all making generalisations, and not EVERY firefighter or EVERY teacher feels this way. So might have been persuaded, weak, or maybe they have left because of the work. If I asked all of my teachers at school tomorrow (I think there are about 100 or less of them. Or more. Or less. Or-) if they wanted to go on strike, I doubt every single one of them would say they would "Yes". And some of them could be lying.

Which brings me onto my next point on what a load of ablls the media is...

Admittedly, the firefighters had a point, but the whole economic thing makes the strike. Fire fighters in America, eg. in New York, have way less pay than here; they have a right to strike but are banned from doing so.

So now this.

I go to a poncy private school though, so they teachers might not strike here, but it is in London, South-East.

"In today's latest news story, a local Maths Teacher said teaching was "gay, you're all gay, gay gay gay". Gareth Gates left no comment on the subject, but said he wasn't "gay" Gay."

Teehee... ahem. Gay.

Firefighters are in this mess because their union hasn't done its job for 20 years. That's not the fault of the government.

And teachers' wages are already weighted across the country, so they're just after more money, because they reckon a strike will get it for them.

Striking is sick. If you're not getting paid enough, just leave.
